YOU'RE INVITED!
WHO?: Anyone with Brothertown relatives or friends of Brothertown
WHAT?: This Eeyawquittoowaunnock Day, you're invited to join the Brothertown Indian Nation & Calumet and Cross Heritage Society for a virtual workshop on conducting elder interviews! With holiday gatherings right around the corner, this is the perfect time of year to sit down with your elders and learn from them. The workshop will be led by Brothertown’s Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO), Dr. Courtney Gerzetich, and will cover topics such as equipment set-up, interview questions, and tips for preserving and sharing your interviews.
WHEN?: Friday, November 7 @ 6pm (Central Time)
WHERE?: Zoom—link available by contacting CalumetAndCross@gmail.com.
WHY?: Why should you consider interviewing family members or friends for the elders project?
Learn! Listening to elders' stories, besides sharing and preserving information, can be a powerful bonding experience.
Share! Sharing the wisdom we learn from our elders reflects traditional values of passing down knowledge through the generations.
Make a Difference! By donating your interview recordings to the Brothertown Indian Nation, you will be contributing to a collective tribal history.
We believe that every elder's story is valuable to Brothertown tribal history! We hope you will attend the workshop and consider conducting your own interviews this holiday season.
